SUV frenzy: 7-seater electric beast & iconic ride revived - get ready for the launches!

New Delhi (The Uttam Hindu): November 2025 is shaping up to be a very exciting month for the Indian SUV market. Two highly anticipated SUVs are set to make their global debut this month. These include the new-generation Tata Sierra and Mahindra's all-electric XEV 9S. Both models are poised to play a significant role for their respective brands in the SUV segment.
Tata Sierra: Return of an iconic name (November 25)
The Tata Sierra is officially set to make its much-awaited comeback on November 25, reviving the iconic name that distinguished the brand decades ago. The SUV will be positioned between the Curvv and Harrier in Tata's lineup. It will be offered in both electric (EV) and internal combustion engine (ICE) versions, with the ICE version launching first and the EV arriving later.
The ICE model will be powered by Tata's new 1.5-litre engine family, which includes naturally aspirated petrol, turbo-petrol and diesel units; the turbo-petrol motor is expected to produce 168 PS of power and 280 Nm of torque, and will come mated to a 6-speed manual and automatic gearboxes. The electric Sierra is likely to share its platform with the Harrier EV and could be offered with two battery options, with the larger pack offering a driving range of over 500km.
Mahindra XEV 9S: Mahindra's first 3-row EV (November 27)
Meanwhile, Mahindra is also set to unveil the XEV 9S at its 'Scream Electric' event in Bengaluru on November 27. This will be the brand's first pure electric, three-row SUV. It's designed on a dedicated INGLO skateboard platform, meaning it's built as an EV from the ground up, giving the car a flat floor and a flexible interior layout.
According to the teaser, its design features signature details like a full-width LED light bar, a new Twin Peaks logo, a panoramic sunroof, and XEV 9S badging on the tailgate. The interior is expected to feature a triple-screen dashboard, premium upholstery, and advanced ADAS. This 7-seater SUV is expected to come with two battery options, with an estimated range of over 500 km. The new XEV 9S is heavily inspired by the XUV e8 concept shown three years ago and will also share some similarities with the XUV 700.
