Major Relief for Commuters: Toll Rates Slashed by Up to 50% on Highways with Bridges, Flyovers, Tunnels
New Delhi (The Uttam Hindu): In a big relief to commuters, the government has reduced toll charges by up to 50% on National Highway stretches that include bridges, tunnels, flyovers, and elevated roads.
As per the new rules, toll will now be calculated on the lower of two values — either 10 times the length of such structures or 5 times the total stretch — effectively bringing down the payable amount on high-cost infrastructure.
Earlier, toll was charged at ten times the regular rate for every kilometre of such structures due to higher construction costs. Additionally, a FASTag-based annual pass worth ₹3,000 for private vehicles will be launched on August 15. It will be valid for one year or up to 200 trips, whichever comes first.
