Alert! UPI Rules Set to Change from August 1 – Check Details Now

New Delhi (The Uttam Hindu): UPI (Unified Payment Interface) has made digital payments easier and more convenient. With just a few taps, people can send or receive money instantly, without the need for cash. It has become an essential part of daily life, helping users handle transactions for everything from groceries to bills. However, starting from August 1, some important changes are being introduced to how UPI works. These new rules will directly impact how users interact with the platform, and it is important to be aware of them in advance.
The first major change is in the balance check limit. Until now, users could check their bank balance through UPI apps as many times as they wanted. But from August 1, this will be limited to only 50 times a day. This restriction has been introduced to reduce unnecessary traffic on the servers and to ensure that critical transactions are not delayed.
Another change is related to how many times users can access their bank account details through a single app. Going forward, each user will be allowed to view their bank account details, such as account number and transaction history, only 25 times a day from one UPI app.
The AutoPay feature, commonly used for paying OTT subscriptions, SIPs, and utility bills, is also being modified. From August 1, AutoPay transactions will only be processed during specific time slots. These time slots are before 10:00 am and between 1:00 pm to 5:00 pm. This will help manage server load and ensure timely processing of automated payments.
There is also a new limit on how often users can check the status of a payment. Many people check the status multiple times for confirmation or to share with others. From now on, users will be able to check the payment status only three times a day, and there must be a gap of at least 90 seconds between each attempt.
Lastly, there is a new rule for payment reversal or chargebacks. If a transaction fails or needs to be reversed, users will be allowed to request a chargeback only 10 times within 30 days. Additionally, only five chargebacks can be raised against the same person or entity in that period.
These new rules are being implemented to reduce server pressure, improve performance, and prevent misuse of UPI services. Users are advised to keep these changes in mind and plan their transactions accordingly from August 1 onwards to avoid any inconvenience.
