Mumbai (The Uttam Hindu): News of a potential two-week ceasefire between the United States and Iran triggered a sharp rally in the Indian stock market on Wednesday. Benchmark indices surged as trading opened, reflecting strong investor optimism amid easing geopolitical tensions.

The Bombay Stock Exchange (BSE) Sensex soared by over 2700 points, opening around 77,290 compared to its previous close of 74,616.58. Within minutes, the index extended gains further, touching nearly 77,392.

Similarly, the National Stock Exchange (NSE) Nifty 50 index jumped close to 800 points. It opened at around 23,855 against its previous close of 23,123.65 and quickly climbed to approximately 23,938 in early trade.

Market experts attribute this strong rally to positive global cues and improved investor sentiment following reports of de-escalation in the Middle East. Reduced geopolitical risk often leads to increased confidence among investors, which was clearly reflected in the sharp upward movement of Indian equities.
