Law and Order Completely Collapsed in Punjab: Dr. Subhash Sharma
Mohali (The Uttam Hindu): Punjab BJP Vice President Dr. Subhash Sharma expressed serious concern over the law and order situation in the state, stating that the situation in Punjab has deteriorated to such an extent that it would not be wrong to say that law and order has completely collapsed. He said that incidents of murder, robbery, snatching and firing are occurring daily in the state, creating an atmosphere of fear among the general public.
Dr. Sharma said that the daylight murder of a young man outside the SSP's office in Mohali two days ago is clear proof that criminals have completely lost all fear of the government and administration. Several heinous incidents in the past month have shaken the entire state. The Rana Balachauria murder case, along with the criminal incidents during wedding ceremonies in Ludhiana and Amritsar, clearly shows that gangsters are roaming freely without any fear.
He said that due to the rising crime rate, traders and businessmen are being forced to leave Punjab. Mohali is gradually becoming a haven for gangsters. If even sensitive places like the SSP's office are not safe, how can ordinary citizens feel secure?
Dr. Sharma alleged that the extortion racket has now spread from big cities to small towns, and its network is constantly strengthening. Despite this, the Aam Aadmi Party government in Punjab is in a deep slumber. He said that Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann also holds the Home Department portfolio, but instead of paying attention to law and order, he is busy with other activities.
He said that the Chief Minister should have visited the Mohali SSP's office to assess the situation instead of going to Goa. He alleged that the Chief Minister's entire focus is on pleasing Arvind Kejriwal, while the security and peace of Punjab are not his priority.
Dr. Subhash Sharma said that on one hand, the Punjab government claims to be eliminating gangsters, while on the other hand, gangsters are committing crimes daily. He alleged that Aam Aadmi Party leaders were saluting gangsters instead of the police. Finally, he said that the Punjab BJP once again demands that the government take concrete steps to seriously improve the law and order situation.
