Six schools in Chandigarh received bomb threats sparking panic among students and parents. Security agencies are on alert as bomb squad takes over investigation.

Chandigarh (The Uttam Hindu): Chandigarh was put on high alert Monday morning after an anonymous bomb threat was received naming six prominent schools across different sectors. Following the message, local police, senior officials and security agencies stepped up security measures around the educational institutions as a precaution.

The schools named in the threat include Air Force School in Sector 31, St. Soldier International School in Sector 28, DAV Model School in Sector 15, St. Stephen’s School in Sector 45 and Ajit School in Sectors 41 and 45. A similar threat was also reported concerning Ankur School on the Panjab University campus.

Police teams, along with bomb disposal and dog squads, conducted extensive searches of the school premises, classrooms and surrounding areas. No suspicious object was found during the preliminary checks. The Chandigarh Police Cyber Cell and Technical Branch are investigating the source of the message including whether it was sent through email, an internet call or a regular message, while the possibility of a hoax threat is also being examined.
