9-year-old student dies of suspected heart attack after collapsing while playing at school, brother died similarly

Nagaur (The Uttam Hindu): A tragic incident has been reported from Rajasthan’s Nagaur district, where a 9-year-old student allegedly died due to a heart attack at a private school in Gotan. The incident reportedly occurred around 7:48 AM on February 23, and CCTV footage of the event has surfaced.

The incident took place at Gotan International School. According to the school administration, Divya, a Class 5 student and daughter of Rajendra Bapedia from Talnpur, had reached school as usual. Before the morning assembly, some children were playing in the school ground, and Divya was among them.

According to School Director Ramkunwar Ola, Divya suddenly collapsed while playing, causing panic on the campus. The staff immediately informed her family and rushed her to the Government Hospital in Gotan, where doctors declared her dead.

Doctors stated that there were no external injury marks on her body. Preliminary examination suggests cardiac arrest as the possible cause of death. The family declined a postmortem, after which the body was handed over to them.

Family members revealed that Divya’s elder brother Abhishek had also died suddenly four months ago under similar circumstances. On September 9, 2025, he had collapsed while playing at home and was declared dead at the hospital.

The sudden deaths of two children from the same family in a short span have created shock in the area. Health experts have advised that heart-related incidents in young children should be taken seriously and medically investigated to determine possible underlying causes.
