From ‘Beti Bachao’ to ‘Beti Badhao’: CM Rekha Gupta highlights new era of women empowerment

New Delhi (The Uttam Hindu): Rekha Gupta participated in the national conference of women thinkers titled “Bharati – Nari Se Narayani” held at Vigyan Bhawan on Saturday. Addressing the gathering, the Chief Minister said that women in India are not only the carriers of tradition but are also emerging as powerful agents of social transformation and national development.
She said that under the leadership of Narendra Modi, women’s empowerment in the country has evolved from the vision of “Beti Bachao, Beti Padhao” to a broader mission of “Beti Badhao.” According to her, women today are playing decisive roles in shaping the nation’s future through their ideas, leadership and participation in various sectors.
Highlighting initiatives of the Delhi government, the Chief Minister said several steps are being taken to make women economically and socially self-reliant. Schemes such as the Lakhpati Bitiya Yojana aim to secure the future of daughters, while the Saheli Pink Smart Card has been introduced to ensure safer and more accessible public transport for women.
Gupta also noted that collateral-free loans are being provided to encourage women entrepreneurs to expand their businesses. She added that decisions like allowing women to work in night shifts are intended to increase their participation in economic activities and open new professional opportunities.
She expressed confidence that platforms such as the “Bharati – Nari Se Narayani” conference would further strengthen women’s leadership and encourage constructive dialogue on empowerment and nation-building. Several distinguished personalities from social and academic fields were also present at the event.
