Mehsana (The Uttam Hindu): A severe road accident took place in Mehsana district of Gujarat, resulting in the death of five members of a single family, while six others were seriously injured. Police reached the spot after receiving information, shifted the injured to the hospital, and sent the bodies for postmortem examination before beginning an investigation.

According to reports, the family was returning to Ramol in Ahmedabad in an Eco car after attending a wedding in Rajasthan. Near Unava in Unjha, the car lost control, hit a divider, and overturned. The impact was so severe that the vehicle was completely damaged. Local residents gathered at the scene and immediately informed the police while starting rescue efforts.

In the accident, five people, including a father and son, a woman and a child, lost their lives. Six others sustained serious injuries and were taken to a nearby hospital for treatment. The deceased have been identified as Ramlal Kumawat, Komal Kumawat, Kailash Kumawat, a child and an elderly woman. Unava police have initiated further legal proceedings.

This is the second major road accident reported in Gujarat recently. Earlier, in Valsad district, a tragic collision occurred near Kumbhghat on the Kaprada–Nanapondha highway, claiming the lives of seven members of a family. The victims were residents of Amba Jungle village in Kaprada taluka. All seven occupants, including five men and two women, were inside the car at the time of the accident.

The collision happened at a sharp curve known as an accident-prone zone. The head-on crash between a truck and the car was extremely powerful, leaving the vehicle badly wrecked and trapping the passengers inside. Five people died on the spot, while two seriously injured men later died during treatment at a hospital, raising the death toll to seven.
