Car used to steal 36 chickens, police catch accused red-handed

Unnao (The Uttam Hindu): Police in Uttar Pradesh’s Unnao district have uncovered an unusual theft case in which chickens, not cash or jewellery, were the target. In a surprising incident, thieves used a private car instead of a loading vehicle to steal poultry from a farm.
Fatehpur Chaurasi police arrested one accused along with 36 stolen chickens that were tightly packed inside the car’s boot and between the seats. The sight left even the police personnel shocked during the recovery.
The case dates back to December 17, when Sharif, a poultry farm owner from Subhash Nagar under the Fatehpur Chaurasi police station area, filed a complaint. He alleged that three unidentified men arrived in a car, cut the farm’s wire mesh, and stole chickens.
Acting swiftly, the police registered a case and launched an investigation. During the probe, officers apprehended 30-year-old Saroj, a resident of Chiranjupurwa village, while he was transporting the stolen chickens in his car. A search led to the recovery of all 36 chickens stuffed inside the vehicle.
During questioning, the accused revealed that two other accomplices were involved in the theft and are currently absconding. Police teams are conducting raids to trace them. The main accused has been sent to jail. Police have also released a video of the recovery.
Officials said the action sends a strong warning against rising theft cases in the area. Local residents have praised the police for their prompt response and effective action.
