New Delhi (The Uttam Hindu): Rekha Gupta conducted a surprise inspection at the State GST office in ITO on Wednesday, where several officials including senior officers were found absent. Taking serious note of the situation, she directed that show-cause notices be issued immediately and made it clear that negligence at any level will not be tolerated.

During the visit, the Chief Minister emphasized that discipline must be maintained across all ranks from junior staff to top officials such as Commissioners and Special Commissioners. She made biometric attendance mandatory for all departments and ordered the submission of attendance records for the past month to ensure accountability.

Interacting with taxpayers and visitors, the Chief Minister received complaints regarding delays in services and the unavailability of officials. She issued a strict warning that any disruption in public services would lead to direct accountability and action against the responsible officials.

She also reviewed office infrastructure and safety measures directing the removal of unused materials and ordering regular audits of fire safety systems. Additionally, she instructed departments to improve grievance redressal mechanisms, ensure weekly review of pending cases and streamline processes for faster resolution.

Reiterating a zero-tolerance policy towards negligence, irregularities and corruption, the Chief Minister stated that such surprise inspections will continue to ensure efficient governance and maintain public trust.
