Raniganj/Galsi/New Delhi (The Uttam Hindu): Delhi Chief Minister Smt. Rekha Gupta on Saturday addressed public meetings in Raniganj and Galsi in West Bengal, campaigning in support of Bharatiya Janata Party candidates. She said the large turnout at both rallies clearly indicated that people in the state have made up their minds to move on from what she described as corruption, appeasement and lawlessness under the leadership of Mamata Banerjee. Taking a swipe at the ruling dispensation, Gupta said it was ironic that a state which gave the country the national anthem and ‘Vande Mataram’ was now “reduced to a system of cut-money and syndicates”. She framed the election as more than a political contest, calling it a decisive moment to restore Bengal’s lost pride and realise the vision of ‘Sonar Bangla’.

She said the election was not just about a change in power, but about dignity, safety and a better future for the youth. Accusing the current government of failing young people, she claimed that even deserving candidates were struggling to find jobs while corrupt practices were being allowed to flourish. Referring to the slogan ‘Maa, Maati, Manush’, she alleged that today neither women feel safe, nor land is free from mafias, nor do people receive their due rights. In Raniganj, Gupta raised concerns about alleged mafia control over coal mines, saying strict action was needed against those exploiting workers’ earnings. In Galsi, she outlined a roadmap focused on development, employment, education and healthcare, promising balanced and faster growth if the BJP comes to power.

During her visit to Raniganj, the Chief Minister also interacted with local women to understand their concerns. Members from various women’s groups flagged issues of rising crime, insecurity and corruption. Gupta sharply criticised the state government over crimes against women, saying that if daughters continue to live in fear despite having a woman Chief Minister, it raises serious questions about governance. She assured that no responsible government can compromise on women’s safety and promised dignity, security and empowerment for women under a BJP government.

Gupta said the crowds at both rallies were proof that people in West Bengal are ready for change. Expressing confidence in the leadership of Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi, she said a BJP government would put an end to corruption and appeasement politics, ushering in a new phase of development and good governance. She urged voters to exercise their franchise and be part of what she described as a decisive shift towards a stronger, development-oriented government.
