Delhi BJP Pays Tribute to Former Chief Minister Late Madan Lal Khurana on His Birth Anniversary

New Delhi (The Uttam Hindu): A floral tribute programme was organised today at the Delhi BJP office on the birth anniversary of former Delhi Chief Minister, former Delhi BJP President and former Governor of Rajasthan, Late Shri Madan Lal Khurana Ji.

On this occasion, Delhi BJP President Shri Harsh Malhotra, Khurana Ji’s wife Smt. Raj Khurana, Shri O. P. Babbar, Shri Mool Chand Chawla, Ved Vyas Mahajan and other senior office-bearers and workers paid floral tributes and garlanded his portrait, while remembering his ideals and contributions.

State office-bearers Shri Vishnu Mittal, Shri Rajesh Bhatia, Shri Ranjeet Kashyap, Santosh Ojha, Shri Santosh Pal, Shri Kailash Jain, Shri Amit Gupta, along with his family members Shri Shivam Chhabra and Shri Sanyam Chhabra, were also present at the programme.

On the occasion, Delhi BJP President Shri Harsh Malhotra said that Shri Madan Lal Khurana Ji was a symbol of high ideals in Indian politics. He was not merely a leader, but an embodiment of a value system. When his name surfaced in the Jain Hawala case in 1995, he resigned from the post of Chief Minister of Delhi without wasting a moment. At that time, Khurana Ji conveyed to politics that character and principles are greater than any position. Such examples are rarely seen in today’s political landscape.

The Delhi BJP President said that Khurana Ji was not called the ‘Lion of Delhi’ without reason. The confidence of the people of Delhi could be heard in his voice. He fought for Delhi’s demand for statehood as well as for basic public amenities. Even his political opponents respected his forthrightness and outspokenness. Even among the Opposition, Khurana Ji commanded a distinct respect because when he criticised, it was on principles, and when he respected someone, it came from the heart.

Shri Malhotra said that on his birth anniversary today, we should resolve to carry forward Khurana Ji’s politics of sacrifice, dedication and putting the nation first.

Senior leaders present at the programme reiterated their resolve to serve the people, drawing inspiration from Khurana Ji’s life and legacy.
