Delhi Blast Probe Reveals ₹5-Lakh AK-47 Deal and Deep-Freezer Explosive Storage

New Delhi (The Uttam Hindu): Intelligence agencies investigating the November 10 car blast near the Red Fort Metro Station now confirmed as a suicide attack have uncovered major new details pointing to a large international terror network and preparations for multiple coordinated strikes. The explosion killed 15 people and injured several others. The suicide bomber, Dr. Umar Nabi, died on the spot while driving the explosive-laden vehicle.
In this case, the National Investigation Agency (NIA) has arrested four key accused: Dr. Muzammil Shakeel Ganaie (Pulwama), Dr. Adil Ahmed Rather (Anantnag), Dr. Shaheen Saeed (Lucknow), and Mufti Irfan Ahmed Wagay (Shopian).
According to sources, after over 2,500 kg of ammonium nitrate was seized in Faridabad, accused Dr. Muzammil revealed that he had purchased an AK-47 rifle for ₹5 lakh, which was later recovered from Dr. Adil’s locker. Officials say the purchase shows the level of funding and preparation of this terror module.
Investigations show that each member of this white-collar terror group reported to different handlers. Dr. Muzammil and Dr. Umar were taking directions separately. Two major handlers Mansoor and Hashim have been identified, both reporting to a central handler who supervised the entire network.
Agencies have also confirmed that in 2022, Muzammil, Adil, and another accused, Muzaffar Ahmed, were sent to Türkiye on the instructions of a man named Okasa, linked to Tehrik-e-Taliban Pakistan (TTP). They were supposed to travel to Afghanistan for further training, but after waiting for a week, the handler changed the plan. Okasa reportedly contacted Muzammil through a Telegram ID.
The probe further revealed that Dr. Umar had been watching online bomb-making videos, reading manuals, and collecting open-source materials. He purchased essential chemicals and electronic components from Nuh, Bhagirath Palace, and Faridabad’s NIT Market. To store and process explosive mixtures, he even bought a deep freezer.
A heated dispute also took place between Muzammil and Umar at Al-Falah University (Faridabad), reportedly over money. After the argument, Umar handed over his red EcoSport car already loaded with explosives to Muzammil.
According to intelligence officials, the module was preparing for multiple blasts at different locations simultaneously. The seized materials and digital evidence indicate a near-final plan for a multi-location terror strike. The investigation is now focused on identifying the foreign handlers, funding channels, and international links.
Meanwhile, the Delhi High Court on Friday refused to pass an order allowing co-accused Jasir Bilal Wani to meet his lawyer at the NIA headquarters. Wani remains in NIA custody.
