Delhi chokes again: AQI crosses ‘severe’ mark, Anand Vihar worst at 409

New Delhi (The Uttam Hindu): The air pollution situation in the capital Delhi has remained serious since Diwali. People are facing breathing problems due to polluted air. According to data from the Central Pollution Control Board (CPCB), the Air Quality Index (AQI) in Anand Vihar was recorded at 409 on Thursday morning, which falls in the 'severe' category.
Delhi's respiratory crisis deepens, with AQI above the danger mark in many areas; Anand Vihar recorded 409: CPCB report shows that the AQI of Lodhi Road has reached 325, which is in the 'very poor' category. Water sprinkling is being done there to control the pollution. Meanwhile, AQI of 359 has been recorded in the ITO area, which indicates 'very poor' level.
Dense smog engulfed the area around India Gate, with the AQI reaching 319, which also falls in the "very poor" category. Furthermore, the AIIMS area recorded an air quality index of 276, which falls in the "poor" category. Given the rising pollution levels, experts have advised people to wear masks when going out.
On Wednesday, the capital's average AQI was recorded at 279, falling into the "poor" category. The previous level on Tuesday was 294. The Meteorological Department has predicted no rain in Delhi-NCR until November 4th, so there's little hope of relief from pollution for now.
