Delhi dating app scam: Man forced to pay Rs 18,000 bill after meeting woman at cafe

New Delhi(The Uttam Hindu): A man who recently moved to Delhi fell victim to a dating app scam, losing Rs 18,000 after meeting a woman at a cafe. The man, who was feeling lonely in the city, matched with the woman on a dating app and agreed to meet at a cafe. However, when the bill arrived, it was a shock - Rs 18,000 for a glass of red wine.

"I felt extremely uncomfortable and stressed. My salary is only Rs 25,000 a month, so this is a huge amount for me," the man said in a viral Reddit post. The woman allegedly worked with the cafe to scam him, a tactic reportedly common in Delhi.

Users on Reddit advised the man to treat it as a learning experience and trust his instincts in the future. "Lol she scammed you. This is very normal in Europe. She worked with the bar place to scam tourists," one user commented.
