A mild 2.8-magnitude earthquake struck near Delhi, prompting residents to rush outside their homes.

New Delhi (The Uttam Hindu): Earthquake tremors were felt in Rewari, a short distance from the capital Delhi. The tremors were felt this morning. The epicenter of the earthquake was at a depth of 5 km in Rewari, Haryana. The tremors were felt at 7:01 am. The intensity of the earthquake was recorded at 2.8 on the Richter scale. However, no information has been received about any untoward incident due to this. Some people came out of their houses after the tremors.

In recent times, many areas across the country and the world have experienced an increase in earthquakes. Our Earth contains seven tectonic plates. These plates constantly rotate in their respective positions. However, sometimes they collide or experience friction. This is the reason why earthquakes occur on Earth. Common people suffer the most from these impacts. Earthquakes cause houses to collapse, killing thousands of people under the debris.
