Delhi-NCR chokes again: Air quality slips to ‘very poor’, AQI above 350 in several zones

New Delhi (The Uttam Hindu): Toxic air continues to wreak havoc in the national capital, including Delhi and the National Capital Region (NCR). A thick blanket of smog has enveloped the city. According to the Central Pollution Control Board (CPCB), Delhi's average AQI (Air Quality Index) at 7 a.m. Thursday was recorded at 349, in the "very poor" category.


Breathing becomes difficult in Delhi-NCR, air becomes 'very poor', AQI crosses 400 in many areas: Apart from this, AQI of 356 has been recorded in Dhaula Kuan area of the capital, AQI of 390 in Anand Vihar, 356 in Alipur, 388 in Ashok Vihar, 371 in Chandni Chowk and 357 in ITO, which have been kept in the 'very poor' category. At the same time, AQI of 405 has been recorded in Bawana, 369 in Burari, 394 in Jahangirpuri AQI, 388 in Narela AQI and 348 in Dwarka.


Adjacent to Delhi, Noida Sector-62 recorded an AQI of 325, Ghaziabad's Vasundhara recorded an AQI of 296, Indirapuram recorded an AQI of 389 and Gurugram (Vikas Sadan recorded an AQI of 325. Earlier, Delhi's 24-hour average AQI was 327 on Wednesday, while it was 352 on Tuesday and 382 on Monday. According to the forecast of the Air Quality Warning System, there is little chance of much improvement in the air quality in the coming days.
