Delhi Police raid 94 locations before Republic Day, 70 held with arms and drugs

New Delhi (The Uttam Hindu): Just before the Republic Day celebrations, the Delhi Police is in full action mode to tighten the security of the capital Delhi and to thwart any possible conspiracy. South-East Delhi Police has launched a major operation under 'Operation Kavach-12' to break the back of criminals and anti-social elements. Police have arrested 70 suspects and criminals by conducting rapid raids at 94 different locations in a single night. This surprise action has created panic in the entire area.
Following intelligence inputs, 78 teams launched a simultaneous raid.
According to police sources, security agencies received input about suspicious activities in the capital in anticipation of January 26th. Based on this, a high alert was issued. Acting swiftly, the South-East Delhi Police formed 78 special teams. These teams conducted simultaneous raids in sensitive areas of the district in a planned manner. The police's goal was to ensure that criminals were unable to carry out any activities.
Weapons, drugs and suspicious vehicles seized
During this intensive checking campaign, police blocked roads and stopped and searched several suspicious vehicles. When objectionable items were found in some vehicles, they were immediately confiscated. Police recovered illegal weapons, large quantities of drugs, and cash from the 70 accused arrested during the raid. Police officials believe that many of the arrested individuals have prior criminal involvement and could have been planning a major crime before Republic Day. Currently, all the arrested accused are being thoroughly interrogated to determine whether there was a larger, organized conspiracy behind the attacks.
No tampering with security will be tolerated: Police
Senior officials of the South-East Delhi Police clarified that the objective of "Operation Kavach-12" is to strengthen law and order in the capital and ensure the safety of citizens. They warned that those who compromise the nation's security will not be spared at any cost. The police administration has also appealed to the general public to remain vigilant around them and immediately report any suspicious person or unclaimed object to the police, so that the national festival can be celebrated in a peaceful and safe environment.
