New Delhi(The Uttam Hindu): Dr Harminder Singh Dua, a prominent figure in global ophthalmology and Professor of Ophthalmology at the University of Nottingham, UK, visited Army Hospital (Research & Referral), New Delhi on August 02, 2025. Dr Dua, celebrated for his pioneering work in corneal science including the discovery of Dua's Layer of the cornea, expressed admiration for the hospital's advanced infrastructure, equipment, and work culture. "The facilities and standards at Army Hospital (R&R) match, and in some aspects even surpass, some of the best centres globally," he stated.

During his visit, Dr Dua delivered a lecture titled 'Steering the Ship: From Studentship to Leadership' to faculty, postgraduate students, and healthcare professionals. He was impressed by the upcoming Advanced Centre for Ophthalmic Visual Sciences, Joint Replacement Centre, and Oncology Centre at the hospital, projects driven under the guidance of Raksha Mantri Shri Rajnath Singh and led by Chief of the Army Staff General Upendra Dwivedi. Dr Dua praised the Armed Forces Medical Services, led by DG Surgeon Vice Admiral Arti Sarin, as a model of excellence.

Dr Dua was felicitated by Commandant Army Hospital (R&R) Lt Gen Shankar Narayan during the visit. Known for his clinical excellence, academic mentorship, and surgical innovation, Dr Dua has transformed modern ophthalmology and continues to inspire clinicians and researchers worldwide.
