Encounter between Delhi Police and Gogi gang, three arrested, one soldier martyred

New Delhi (The Uttam Hindu): Late Friday night, there was heavy firing between Delhi Police and criminals in Budh Vihar area of Rohini, Delhi. In the police action, two criminals of Gogi gang were shot in their legs and got injured while two other criminals managed to escape. In this way, the police succeeded in catching 3 out of a total of 5 criminals. SHO Karuna Sagar led this encounter. According to police sources, the arrested criminals are associated with the notorious Gogi gang. The injured criminals were immediately admitted to the hospital where they are undergoing treatment. One police constable was injured and one constable was martyred in this encounter.
Encounter between Delhi Police and Gogi gang members; 3 arrested; one soldier martyred: Police said that they had received secret information that some members of Gogi gang were planning to commit a major crime in Buddh Vihar area. On this basis, Buddh Vihar police set up a blockade near Pansali Road and signaled a suspicious car to stop. But on seeing the police, the criminals started firing, in response to which the police also opened fire. During this, several rounds of bullets were fired in which two criminals were injured. Police have recovered a car, a semi-automatic pistol, live cartridges and other weapons from the spot.
This encounter is part of Delhi Police's ongoing "Operation Kavach" campaign against gangsters. Two days earlier on September 17th a large sum of cash and weapons were recovered during another operation in Rohini district. The Gogi gang is notorious for serious crimes such as murder, kidnapping and extortion in Delhi and the NCR region. Several encounters have taken place between the Delhi Police and the gangsters from May last year to May this year.
Following the incident, police stated that the identities of the arrested criminals and their criminal records were being investigated. DCP (Rohini) stated that this operation is an important step towards making Delhi crime-free. "We are fully committed to dismantling the gangsters' network," he said. The recovered car was stolen from the NSP area and forensic examination of the recovered weapons has also begun.
Additionally, the Delhi Police has launched another major crackdown against organized crime. Under Operation Trauma, hundreds of police officers raided southeast Delhi last night. During the raids, police arrested 50 people at various locations. Police also recovered 13 pistols and 20 knives from them. The operation reportedly continued late into the night with simultaneous operations at multiple locations aimed at weakening the gangster network.
