A shocking case in Meerut where a father lived with his daughter’s corpse for five months, using perfume to hide the smell; investigation underway.

Meerut (The Uttam Hindu): A shocking and disturbing case has emerged from Meerut, where a father allegedly lived and slept with his daughter’s dead body for nearly five months. The incident took place in the Sadar police station area, where the accused tried to hide the foul smell by repeatedly spraying perfume inside the room.
According to police, the matter came to light after a call to Dial 112. When the police team entered the house, they found a horrifying scene. The daughter’s body had completely decomposed, leaving behind only skeletal remains on the bed.
Initial investigation revealed that the accused, Uday Bhanu Biswas, originally from Bengal, lived with his daughter Priyanka Biswas, who worked as a teacher. During questioning, the father claimed that his daughter had died around five months ago due to a serious illness. It was also revealed that Priyanka’s mother had died by suicide years earlier, after which she had become withdrawn.
The truth came out when relatives grew suspicious after not being able to contact Priyanka for months. The father repeatedly misled them, claiming that she had moved to Dehradun for a job. However, when relatives visited the house and questioned him strictly, he confessed that she had died and her remains were still inside the house.
During interrogation, the accused admitted that he continued sleeping in the same room with the body. To suppress the strong odor from decomposition, he used large amounts of perfume daily. Police recovered several empty perfume bottles from the spot. It was also found that the father had briefly gone to Haridwar, and upon returning, the body had turned into a skeleton.
Naveen Shukla stated that the skeletal remains have been sent for postmortem. The accused has been taken into custody and is being questioned. Police said the exact cause of death will be confirmed only after the postmortem report.
