New Delhi (The Uttam Hindu): Police have arrested Vinay, the accused in the shocking murder of Shivani Nishad, the married cousin of the bride, during a wedding in Gorakhpur, Uttar Pradesh. After examining the post-mortem report and the crime scene, suspicion turned towards Vinay. During interrogation, he confessed to the crime.

Three-Year Relationship; Shivani Insisted on Staying With Him Even After Marriage

According to police, Vinay admitted that he had been in a relationship with Shivani for the last three years. Even after her marriage, they stayed in contact. Vinay told police that he repeatedly asked Shivani to end the relationship after her marriage, but she continued to pressure him to marry her. Shivani allegedly refused to return to her husband’s home and insisted on staying at her parental house so she could marry Vinay.

They Met in the Garden Behind the House on the Wedding Night

During questioning, Vinay said that on the night of the wedding, he took Shivani to a small garden near the bathroom at the back of the house to talk. They spoke for nearly four hours. Shivani clearly stated that she did not want to live with her husband and wanted to marry Vinay. Although Vinay tried to convince her otherwise, she remained firm.

He Kissed Her Forehead, Hugged Her — Then Attacked With a Sickle

Vinay stated that when Shivani refused to end the relationship, he reacted impulsively. He confessed that he first kissed her forehead, then hugged her, and at that moment attacked her neck with a sickle lying nearby. The sudden attack caused Shivani to struggle. She tried to stop him by grabbing the sickle, causing injuries to both their fingers.

Police said Vinay admitted that after the attack, he did not run away. He sat there and watched as Shivani suffered and eventually died. Only after she took her last breath did he leave the spot. Investigators believe that the incident was not a pre-planned murder but happened in emotional stress and anger.

Based on the complaint filed by Shivani’s family, police have registered a case against Vinay under Section 302 for murder, and further investigation is underway.
