GST Reforms Bring Cheer to Delhi Markets: CM Rekha Gupta Welcomed with Flowers

New Delhi (The Uttam Hindu): Chief Minister Mrs Rekha Gupta today participated in the ‘GST Bachat Utsav’ (GST Savings Festival) at Totaram Market, a major marketplace in North Delhi’s Trinagar, alongside traders, shopkeepers, and consumers. She stated that under the visionary leadership of Honourable Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi, the implementation of NextGen GST reforms is now yielding tangible benefits across Delhi. With prices of hundreds of essential and everyday items reduced, markets are buzzing with excitement. Smiles are evident on the faces of consumers and shopkeepers alike.
Local MP Shri Praveen Khandelwal, MLA Shri Tilkram Gupta, and other dignitaries attended the event. All attendees toured the market, interacting with traders and buyers. During the occasion, the people of Totaram Market showered flowers in appreciation of Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi and Chief Minister Mrs Rekha Gupta. The Chief Minister also placed posters across each shop promoting the message “Make Every Home Swadeshi” and appealed to the public to embrace domestic products. She emphasised that this call for swadeshi is for the benefit of the citizens, who have welcomed the initiative with joy.
She highlighted that the direct benefits of NextGen GST are reaching every citizen. Housewives, traders, consumers, and the general public alike are satisfied. With Diwali approaching, markets are vibrant and enthusiastic, and every individual is expressing heartfelt thanks to the Honourable Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi for this initiative. The Chief Minister further stated that these reforms will empower the poor, youth, farmers, women, traders, and MSMEs (micro, small, and medium enterprises), thereby strengthening the resolve for a self-reliant India. Additionally, she announced that long-pending GST refunds for traders will be promptly released, providing immediate relief. She described this as a historic gift from the Prime Minister to the nation ahead of Diwali.
The CM noted that decisions such as zero GST on health and life insurance, and a capped 18% GST rate on vehicles, will directly benefit 140 crore citizens. She stressed that this benefit, delivered through GST under the Prime Minister’s leadership, will be a significant gift for every family this Diwali, with middle-class households standing to gain the most.
Chief Minister Mrs Rekha Gupta further remarked that the Honourable Prime Minister has effectively turned this Navratri into a ‘Bachat Festival’. This is not merely a tax reform, but a revolutionary step towards improving the living standards of 1.4 billion people. It will reduce the financial burden on consumers and further strengthen the nation’s economy.
On the first day of Navratri, receiving the blessings of Goddess Durga, she vowed to continue serving every citizen of Delhi day and night. Initiatives include modernising Delhi’s transport infrastructure, launching new residential projects, establishing electric vehicle charging stations, and revitalising ISBTs. In addition, a new EV policy for Delhi will soon be implemented to provide better facilities to the public.
The Chief Minister stated that GST reforms will not only boost business but also facilitate a smooth family life. She emphasised that staying close to the people and supporting them in all circumstances remains a government priority. Traders and citizens alike are extremely pleased and excited about the Prime Minister’s decisions, viewing them as a substantial gift this Diwali.
