Noida (The Uttam Hindu): More than 40 people fell ill after eating buckwheat flour during the Mahashivratri fast at Eco Village-3, Royal Court, and Himalaya Pride societies in Greater Noida West (Greater Noida West). Most of them have been hospitalized and are undergoing treatment.

More than 40 people fell ill after ordering buckwheat flour online; panic erupted in Greater Noida. : According to residents, dishes made of buckwheat flour were prepared to break the fast of Mahashivratri on Sunday. Shortly after consuming them, many people started complaining of vomiting, diarrhoea, stomach ache, dizziness and numbness in hands and feet. More than 30 people, including children, were affected in Eco Village-3 Society. When their condition worsened, they had to be admitted to the hospital.

More than 15 people have also been reported ill at the Himalaya Pride Society. Residents of the society stated that all patients are being treated at a local hospital. One resident reported that six to seven members of their family are admitted, including two pregnant women. Residents say that the buckwheat flour was ordered online from a nearby local market. The flour was not packaged, but was loose. It is suspected that this consumption led to the food poisoning. The Food Department has been informed of the matter.

It's worth noting that incidents of food poisoning have occurred in Greater Noida and Greater Noida West during festivals. Previously, more than 300 people, including those in a hostel, fell ill. At that time, the Food Department sent samples to the lab for testing. Local residents allege that the sale of adulterated and unsafe food items in the area is not being effectively curbed.
