New Delhi (The Uttam Hindu): A shocking incident has been reported from Coimbatore, Tamil Nadu, where a man brutally murdered his wife inside a women’s hostel and then took a selfie with the body, posting it on his WhatsApp status. The case has triggered a major debate over women’s safety in the state.
The victim has been identified as 32-year-old Shripriya, who worked at a private company in Coimbatore. According to police, she had been living separately from her husband, Balamurugan, and was staying in a women’s hostel for some time.
Came to Meet Her, Hid a Sickle in His Clothes
The accused arrived at the hostel claiming he wanted to meet her. Investigations revealed that he had hidden a sharp sickle inside his clothes. As soon as they met, a heated argument broke out. Suddenly, Balamurugan pulled out the weapon and attacked Shripriya repeatedly, killing her on the spot.
After the murder, he crossed all limits of cruelty by taking a selfie with the body and uploading it as his WhatsApp status, accusing his wife of “betrayal.”
Panic in the Hostel; Accused Waited Calmly for Police
The horrific attack caused panic among the women staying in the hostel, and many rushed outside in fear. Shockingly, the accused did not attempt to flee. Instead, he stayed at the scene and calmly waited for the police. The police arrived quickly, arrested him, and recovered the weapon.
Husband Suspected an Illicit Relationship
Initial investigations suggest that the accused suspected his wife of being involved with another man, and this suspicion drove him to commit the murder.
