New Delhi(The Uttam Hindu): Delhi Chief Minister Smt. Rekha Gupta on Wednesday interacted directly with citizens from across the city during a public grievance hearing (Jan Sunwai) held at the Chief Minister’s Janseva Sadan. During the session, the Chief Minister patiently listened to the concerns raised by people and issued strict instructions to the concerned officials present on the spot to ensure their prompt and time-bound resolution.

She said that listening to citizens and addressing their problems effectively is the true measure of good governance. “This reflects Delhi’s new work culture, where the government is reaching out to the people at their doorstep,” she said, adding that the government is committed to strengthening the administrative system on the pillars of service, transparency and public participation.

The Chief Minister said citizens will no longer have to make repeated visits to government offices or stand in long queues for their everyday issues. With the use of technology, the distance between the government and the public has been significantly reduced.

She shared details about the ‘CM Jan Sunwai Portal’ and the mobile app, describing them as a unified platform where complaints related to the Municipal Corporation of Delhi (MCD), Delhi Development Authority (DDA), Delhi Police and all departments of the Delhi government can be registered in one place. Citizens can also track the progress of their complaints through the portal. If a person is not satisfied with the resolution, the system automatically escalates the matter to higher authorities (appellate authority).

She also noted that apart from the online system, citizens can register their grievances through the call centre helpline (1902) or by visiting the Chief Minister’s Office (CMO) in person and submitting their concerns offline.

CM Rekha Gupta further said that the Delhi government has expanded the Common Service Centre (CSC) network to bridge the digital divide. Over 7,000 centres across the city are now providing 75 key e-District services, including income, caste and residence certificates, birth and death certificates, and pension-related services. A nominal fee of ₹30 has been fixed for these services to curb exploitation by middlemen and cyber cafes.

The Chief Minister said that public satisfaction remains the government’s ultimate benchmark of success. Delhi’s ongoing digital transformation, she added, will ensure that the era of running from one government office to another becomes a thing of the past, and that access to public services becomes a simple and basic right for every citizen.
