Lucknow (The Uttam Hindu): A late-night fire at the Bank of Baroda branch inside the Shakuntala Mishra University campus on Mohan Road created panic on Tuesday. Flames and smoke suddenly rising in the quiet of the night were noticed by nearby people, who immediately informed the fire station. Within minutes, a team from Alam Bagh Fire Station reached the spot and started the rescue operation.

Smoke had already filled the bank from inside, but the main door was locked, making it difficult for the fire team to enter. Without wasting time, firefighters broke a window to get inside and began working to control the fire. Due to their quick action and alertness, the situation was brought under control shortly afterwards.

Meanwhile, bank staff reached the location and opened the main gate. The team then inspected the interior to ensure the fire had not reached any critical areas. The branch manager informed officials that all cash had already been deposited in the currency chest earlier. Thankfully, the fire did not reach the currency chest section, preventing a major financial loss.

Fire officials stated that the exact cause of the fire is still unknown. It is initially suspected to be a short circuit, but a detailed investigation is underway. Bank authorities and police have inspected the area and started assessing the damage. After the incident, the bank premises have been temporarily closed, and a technical check of the electrical system is being conducted for safety.
