Mirzapur (The Uttam Hindu): A shocking incident has been reported from Mirzapur, where a senior lawyer and village head was shot dead in broad daylight while out for a morning walk. The incident took place in the Katara Kotwali area, creating panic and raising serious questions over law and order. The entire crime was captured on CCTV footage, which has now gone viral on social media.
The victim, identified as Rajeev Singh (Rinku), was on his routine morning walk when two unidentified assailants on a motorcycle approached him. Before he could react, one of the attackers opened fire at close range using a country-made pistol, killing him on the spot.
The viral CCTV footage shows the attackers fleeing the scene in panic after the murder. In a dramatic moment, their motorcycle initially failed to start, forcing one of the attackers to move forward and try restarting it. During this time, when locals attempted to catch them, the assailant sitting at the back threatened them with a firearm, forcing them to step back. Once the bike started, both attackers escaped from the spot.
Police have launched an investigation into the incident and are reviewing CCTV footage and other evidence to identify the accused and determine the motive behind the killing.
