Nitin Nabin elected unopposed as BJP national president, 37 sets of nomination papers submitted in support

New Delhi (The Uttam Hindu): The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) has got a new national president, with senior leader Nitin Nabin being elected unopposed to the top organisational post. After the nomination deadline ended on Monday, BJP National Election Officer Dr K. Laxman formally announced his election through a press statement.
No other leader filed nomination papers against Nitin Nabin during the process, leading to his unopposed election as the party’s national president.
PM Modi proposed the name, nomination filed in presence of senior leaders
The election highlighted strong unity within the party. Prime Minister Narendra Modi was among those who proposed Nitin Nabin’s candidature. Earlier, Nitin Nabin filed his nomination papers in the presence of senior BJP leaders including Amit Shah, Rajnath Singh, outgoing national president JP Nadda, and Nitin Gadkari.
According to the election officer, a total of 37 sets of nomination papers were submitted in support of Nitin Nabin between 2 pm and 4 pm on Monday. All nominations were found valid during scrutiny. As there was no other candidate, Nitin Nabin was officially declared elected.
Election held after completion of organisational process in states
As per the BJP constitution, the election of the national president was conducted after completing a detailed organisational process. Out of 36 states and Union Territories, elections for state presidents were completed in 30 states before initiating the national president election.
The schedule for the election and the voter list were officially notified on January 16. With this, Nitin Nabin has now taken charge of leading the world’s largest political party.
