New Delhi(The Uttam Hindu): Delhi Chief Minister Smt. Rekha Gupta said that the Delhi Government's e-Office system will complete one year on July 1. Over the past year, a visible transformation has taken place in the government's administrative functioning. Earlier, most official work was carried out through paper files. Today, file movement, correspondence and approvals are handled online. This has accelerated file disposal, improved transparency and accountability in government functioning, and helped ensure the timely delivery of public services.

The Chief Minister said the e-Office system now makes it easy to identify which official is handling a particular file and what action has been taken on it. The system has also made record-keeping more secure, reduced unnecessary delays and enabled smoother coordination among departments. This is why the Delhi Government is steadily expanding the system to cover more departments and institutions. She said that as of March 8, 2025, 5,005 officers and employees across 198 departments and offices were using e-Office for online file processing and official work. By June 27, 2026, the number had risen to 15,748 officers and employees across 235 departments and offices.

Chief Minister Rekha Gupta said that since the functioning of all departments and institutions is not the same, the Delhi Government has developed the e-Office system under three separate categories. The first is meant exclusively for government departments, the second for public sector undertakings, boards, corporations, commissions, committees, autonomous bodies and local bodies, and the third for universities, colleges and other educational institutions. This has enabled each category to function more effectively according to its specific requirements. Accordingly, the use of e-Office was made mandatory across all Delhi Government departments from July 1, 2025. At present, all 132 government departments are part of the system, with 11,940 active users.

The Chief Minister said that between July 1, 2025 and April 12, 2026, government departments processed 1,14,603 e-files and 7,14,091 e-receipts. Following the launch of the new e-Office system, nearly 23,767 e-files and 1.53 lakh e-receipts were processed between April 13, 2026 and June 27, 2026 alone, reflecting the rapid increase in its adoption across departments. She added that 3,090 active users are currently working through e-Office across 55 public sector undertakings, boards, corporations, commissions, committees, autonomous bodies and local bodies. Between April 15, 2026 and June 27, 2026, these institutions processed 4,672 e-files and 55,132 e-receipts. Similarly, 718 active users are using e-Office across 48 universities, colleges and other educational institutions. Between April 17, 2026 and June 27, 2026, these institutions processed 1,267 e-files and 3,051 e-receipts.

Chief Minister Rekha Gupta said the Delhi Government's objective is to create a work environment across all government offices where administration is faster, more transparent and more accountable, while ensuring that people do not have to wait unnecessarily for government services. She said the e-Office system has emerged as an important step in this direction. Its reach will continue to expand in the coming years to further strengthen good governance in Delhi.
