New Delhi (The Uttam Hindu): A serious road accident took place late last night in Vasant Kunj area of South-West Delhi, in which a speeding Mercedes car hit three people sleeping on the footpath. One youth died on the spot in the accident, while two others are injured and their treatment is going on in the hospital. The accident took place around 2 o'clock in the night. Eyewitnesses say that the Mercedes car was coming at a very high speed. Suddenly the driver lost control and the car climbed on the footpath, where three people were sleeping. The collision was so strong that all three were seriously injured.


Death is running rampant on the streets of Delhi; an out-of-control Mercedes crushes three people sleeping on the footpath, killing one: At around 2:33 am, Vasant Kunj North police station received information about the accident. The police team immediately reached the spot near Ambience Mall on Nelson Mandela Marg. There they found the Mercedes G63 in a damaged condition and three injured youths aged 23, 35 and 23 lying nearby. All three were working in a restaurant in Ambience Mall. The injured were immediately taken to the hospital, where 23-year-old Rohit, a resident of Chamoli in Uttarakhand, was declared dead by the doctors. The remaining two are undergoing treatment.


Police have identified the car driver as 29-year-old Shivam, a resident of Karol Bagh. He was taken into custody at the scene. Shivam was driving the car with his elder brother and wife at the time of the accident. Preliminary investigations revealed that due to high speed, the vehicle lost control and collided with a pole where the three victims were present. Shivam was reportedly returning from a wedding ceremony, and the car belonged to his friend Abhishek. Police have initiated necessary legal action in the case.
