Seven devotees returning from Ram Navami darshan died in a tragic pickup accident in Kaushambi after the vehicle rammed into a trailer on the highway.

Kaushambi (The Uttam Hindu): A tragic road accident occurred in Uttar Pradesh’s Kaushambi on Friday, where a speeding pickup vehicle rammed into a stationary heavy trailer on the Kanpur–Prayagraj highway. The collision was so severe that the pickup was completely mangled. Out of around 25 passengers, including women and children, seven people lost their lives. The victims reportedly succumbed to their injuries on the way to the hospital.

Devotees were returning after Ram Navami darshan

According to information, all the passengers in the pickup were residents of Barokhar village in the Malwa area of Fatehpur district. On the occasion of Ram Navami, they had traveled to Kada Dham for darshan of Maa Sheetla. After offering prayers, they were returning home when the fatal accident occurred.

The incident has left families in deep grief, with mourning spreading across the victims’ village.

Chaos at the accident site, multiple ambulances deployed

The accident took place around 3:45 PM near the Dorma petrol pump. Eyewitnesses reported distressing scenes as injured passengers cried for help. Upon receiving information, police and emergency teams rushed to the spot and initiated rescue operations.

At least four ambulances were deployed to transport the injured to nearby hospitals. The accident also led to a traffic jam on the highway, which was later cleared by the police after considerable effort.
