New Delhi (The Uttam Hindu): A massive fire broke out in a four-storey residential building in Delhi’s Palam area on Wednesday, creating panic in the locality. Seven members of a single family lost their lives in the incident, while three others are undergoing treatment in hospital.

According to information, a total of 10 family members were trapped inside the building when the fire erupted. Fire department teams rushed to the spot immediately after receiving the alert and launched rescue operations. The blaze spread rapidly, engulfing the entire building in flames and thick smoke.

The fire department deployed around 25 fire tenders to control the situation. After prolonged efforts, firefighters managed to bring the fire under control. The exact cause of the fire is yet to be confirmed, but initial reports suggest a possible short circuit.

Several occupants were trapped due to heavy smoke inside the building. Rescue teams evacuated people in time, but many suffered breathing difficulties. Four people were admitted to a nearby hospital, where they are currently receiving treatment. Doctors have said their condition is stable.

Local residents reported chaos in the area after the fire broke out, with many people rushing out of their homes and assisting rescue teams. Police also reached the spot, cordoned off the area and regulated traffic to facilitate emergency operations.

Authorities have ordered an inquiry into the incident. Officials said that safety measures and fire prevention systems in the building will also be examined to prevent such incidents in the future.

Police confirmed that teams acted swiftly upon receiving information and brought the situation under control. A case has been registered, and a detailed investigation has been initiated to determine the exact cause of the fire.
