80% Jobs Will Be Replaced by AI in 5 Years: Warns Indian-American Tech Tycoon

New Delhi (The Uttam Hindu): Amid the ongoing global debate over Artificial Intelligence (AI), renowned Indian-American investor Vinod Khosla has made a startling prediction—within the next five years, 80% of current jobs could be replaced by AI-based systems. His statement has intensified discussions about the future of work in an AI-dominated era.
Drawing parallels with the computer revolution decades ago, Khosla emphasized that while many fear job loss due to AI, others believe it will lead to greater efficiency, transparency, and speed in completing tasks. He warned that AI will likely automate a vast majority of routine and even specialized tasks, rendering many traditional roles obsolete.
Highlighting the urgency for adaptation, Khosla also gave a crucial piece of advice to students and professionals: instead of focusing solely on becoming specialists in one field, they should develop as generalists. According to him, the future belongs to individuals who have broad knowledge across multiple domains, as AI will surpass humans in deep, narrow expertise.
His forecast serves as a wake-up call for policymakers, educators, and job-seekers, urging them to prepare for a future where human adaptability and versatility will be the most valued skills in the workforce.
