New Delhi (The Uttam Hindu): Youth Congress President Uday Bhanu Chib has received a major relief. Late last night, the Patiala House Court granted him conditional bail in the case of protests during the AI Summit. Delhi Police produced Uday Bhanu Chib before the duty magistrate of Patiala House Court that night. The duty magistrate granted Uday Bhanu Chib bail on a personal bond of ₹50,000.
The Delhi Police Crime Branch filed an application in court late last night seeking a seven-day extension of Uday Bhanu Chib's police custody remand. Separate petitions were also filed seeking the remand of two other accused in the case. The court rejected the Delhi Police Crime Branch's request for an extension of Uday Bhanu Chib's remand. However, following a petition filed by the Youth Congress president, the duty magistrate granted Uday Bhanu Chib bail.
In its order, the court stated that the Crime Branch failed to provide sufficient reasons for extending the remand. While granting bail, the court ordered Uday Bhanu Chib to surrender his passport to the court. He was also ordered to surrender his electronic gadgets to the court.
The Youth Congress posted on the social media platform 'X', "Satyameva Jayate. Uday Bhanu Chib gets bail. In the middle of the night, while the country was sleeping, the judiciary was foiling every conspiracy of the Delhi Crime Branch. In the middle of the night, the police filed an application before the duty magistrate to extend Uday Bhanu Chib's remand for 7 days, which the judiciary rejected and decided to release Uday Bhanu Chib on bail." The post further read, "We are grateful to the judiciary and all the lawyers who lit the lamp of justice in the darkness of the night and made a new sun rise against this anti-India trade deal
