Thrilling escape: Young Indian engineer outsmarts 'cyber slavery' in Thailand, makes daring bid for freedom

Sambhajinagar (The Uttam Hindu): A shocking case of 'cyber slavery' has come to light from Sambhajinagar in Maharashtra. Here, a young engineer was lured to Thailand on the pretext of a job and was sold there for Rs 1.5 lakh. The victim was held hostage there and forced into cyber fraud. The young woman somehow saved her life and returned to India on October 21 with the help of the Indian Embassy. According to the complaint lodged with the police, this heinous act was carried out by a company owner named Avinash Rambhau Udhan.
According to reports, the accused, Avinash Udhan, lured the victim into Thailand as a marketing manager and even took money from her. In August of this year, the woman was sent to Thailand. Upon arrival, she was shocked when she was not hired for any job, but instead transferred to another company.
When the girl discovered she had been sold, she was at a loss for words. She was held hostage and forced to commit cyber fraud. The victim remained undeterred and continued to try to return to India. She eventually secured her release by paying the company US$2,000 (approximately Rs. 1.66 lakh). She then contacted the Indian Embassy in Cambodia.
With the help of the embassy, she was able to return safely to India on 21 October.
Upon returning to her homeland, the victim lodged a complaint against the accused Avinash Udhan at the Pundaliknagar police station in Sambhajinagar under serious sections of fraud and human trafficking.
Given the seriousness of the matter, immigration officials in Mumbai have also filed a separate complaint at the Sahara police station regarding this illegal activity. Police are now searching for the accused.
