New Delhi (The Uttam Hindu) : Today, Salman Khan and Aamir Khan are considered pillars of friendship in the Hindi film industry. Despite publicly teasing each other on various occasions, their bond remains strong—both in personal and professional life. However, their relationship wasn't always so cordial. There was a time when tensions between the two superstars ran high. The friction dates back to the shooting of their cult comedy Andaz Apna Apna, where a major fallout occurred, temporarily ending all communication between them.

Aamir Khan’s Frustration with Salman’s Lax Attitude

Known for his punctuality and perfectionism, Aamir Khan reportedly lost his patience with Salman’s repeated tardiness on set. In contrast, Salman Khan was known to often arrive late for shoots—a trait that caused delays and frustration among the crew. Actor Shahzad Khan, who played Vikram Bhalla in the film, once recalled an incident from the sets. He shared that while Aamir, who was doing just one film a year at the time, always arrived on schedule at 9 a.m., the team would frequently wait for Salman to show up so that filming could begin.

The On-Set Confrontation

Eventually, the tension boiled over. Aamir Khan reportedly confronted Salman in front of the cast and crew, saying, “This is not the way to work. Do you think you’re a bigger star? Are you more important than others here?”

Salman didn't take the criticism lightly and retorted, “If I’m not bigger than you, I’m not smaller either. I may be late, but I work day and night. If you do one film a year, how is that my problem?” The heated exchange led to a complete breakdown in communication between the two actors. Interestingly, their real-life rivalry mirrored their on-screen roles in Andaz Apna Apna, where their characters—Amar and Prem—constantly tried to outdo each other.

From Flop to Cult Classic

The on-set tension wasn’t limited to the male leads. Actresses Raveena Tandon and Karisma Kapoor also reportedly had their share of disagreements during the shoot of the film, directed by Rajkumar Santoshi. Despite its poor performance at the box office upon its release in 1994, Andaz Apna Apna has since become a beloved cult classic in Hindi cinema, celebrated for its quirky humor, memorable characters, and timeless comedy. Today, the past animosity between Salman and Aamir is just a footnote in what has evolved into one of Bollywood’s most admired friendships.
