Deepika Padukone Exits ‘Kalki 2898 AD 2’ After 20 Days of Shooting Over High-Fee Demands

New Delhi (Uttam Hindu News): Bollywood superstar Deepika Padukone’s sudden exit from the upcoming film Kalki 2898 AD 2 has created a buzz in the film industry. Although she had already completed around 20 days of shooting, the production team decided to replace her, citing various issues behind the decision.
Reasons Behind the Exit
According to sources, Deepika reportedly demanded a 25% hike in her fees and five-star accommodation for a 25-member entourage. These demands were considered unacceptable by the production team, especially since the film is VFX-heavy. Additionally, there were reports of delays in her shooting schedule and occasional late arrivals on set, which contributed to the decision to remove her from the project.
Director’s Perspective
Director Nag Ashwin had previously praised Deepika for her effortless performance and said she made life on set easier. However, during the second schedule of the sequel, her professional conduct and additional demands led to the production house deciding to part ways with her.
Deepika’s exit from the film is not her first controversy; she also left the film Spirit reportedly over high fee demands and work schedule disagreements. Despite this, she has begun shooting her next project ‘King’ with Shah Rukh Khan, confirming her ongoing professional commitments.
Deepika Padukone’s departure from Kalki 2898 AD 2 highlights the importance of balancing artist demands and professionalism in high-budget productions. This incident may also set a precedent for future projects in Bollywood regarding negotiations and conduct on set.
