New Delhi (The Uttam Hindu): Services of the video sharing site YouTube have been restored across the world, including India. Due to a technical glitch over the past few hours, YouTube users were unable to view videos, including the homepage. YouTube officially stated that the issue with our recommendation system has been fixed, and all our platforms (YouTube.com, the YouTube app, YouTube Music, Kids, and TV) are back to normal. We thank you for your support in resolving this issue.”
YouTube was completely down late Tuesday night. Users across the world reported problems. Videos on YouTube (homepage, YouTube app, YouTube Music and Kids) were not visible. The company said, linking to a support page on 'X', "If you're currently having trouble accessing YouTube, you're not alone. Our teams are working on it."
Tracking website Down Detector reported that it received over 3 million outages from its user base. However, the number of complaints appeared to be declining after peaking around 6:30 PM IST. YouTube confirmed the outage, saying, "We're aware that some of you are currently experiencing issues accessing YouTube. Our team is working on a fix. We'll let you know as soon as we have updates."
YouTube later issued an update stating that the homepage was back, but the team was working on a "full fix." During the worst part of the outage, users visiting the website's homepage were seeing a message to come back later. Google-owned YouTube is the world's largest video sharing platform, with more than 2.5 billion active users each month.
