Chennai (The Uttam Hindu): A fresh controversy erupted in Tamil Nadu after senior Congress leader and former state party president K.S. Alagiri made a highly objectionable remark against BJP MP and actress Kangana Ranaut. Alagiri urged people to “slap” Kangana if she visits Tamil Nadu, accusing her of arrogance and making “nonsensical statements.”

The remark came during a press conference when Alagiri was asked about Kangana’s old controversial statement during the 2020 farmers’ protest, where she allegedly said that women activists join protests for ₹100. Losing his cool, Alagiri referred to the Chandigarh Airport incident, saying:

“Kangana Ranaut has repeatedly made absurd comments. Once at the airport, a woman security officer slapped her. When she comes here, people should not forget this and should slap her.”

This controversy traces back to Kangana’s tweet during the farmers’ agitation in which she allegedly insulted 73-year-old protester Mohinder Kaur, mistaking her for Shaheen Bagh activist Bilkis Bano. Kangana had allegedly claimed that “such women join protests for ₹100.”

Notably, earlier this year, CISF woman constable Kulwinder Kaur had slapped Kangana Ranaut at Chandigarh Airport, stating that she was angered by the MP’s comments on the farmers’ movement. Alagiri’s reference to the same incident has now triggered a fresh political storm.
