‘Pulimurugan’ and ‘Odiyan’ fame actor Kannan Pattambi passes away, brother Major Ravi confirms

Kochi (The Uttam Hindu): The year has started with sad news for the Malayalam film industry. Renowned production controller and actor Kannan Pattambi passed away late on Sunday, January 4th. He was active in the film industry for the past three decades and played many memorable roles along with behind-the-scenes responsibilities. Kannan Pattambi breathed his last at his residence in Nyangathiri, Palakkad at around 11:41 pm on January 4th. His demise has sent shockwaves across the film industry.
The sad news was confirmed by his elder brother and renowned actor-director Major Ravi on social media. In a very emotional post shared on Facebook, Major Ravi informed that his younger brother, who did excellent work as a film production controller, is no more in this world. Major Ravi informed that Kannan's last rites will be performed on Monday at 4 pm in the premises of his house in Nyangathiri, Pattambi. According to ANI report, the cause of Kannan Pattambi's death is said to be kidney-related ailment, which he was suffering from.
Kannan Pattambi worked with many legendary actors, including Mohanlal, throughout his career. As an actor, he appeared in approximately 23 Malayalam films. His biggest acting achievements include the blockbuster "Pulimurugan," which is considered a milestone in the history of Malayalam cinema. He was also a part of critically acclaimed hits like "Odiyan" and "12th Man." Although he largely avoided the limelight, as a production controller, he played a key role in the success of several major projects.
His filmography includes films like "Ananthabhadram," "Vettam," "Kirthichakra," "Punaradhivasam," "Crazy Gopalan," "Kandahar," "Tantra," "Mission 90 Days," "Kurukshetra," and "Kilichoondan Mambazham." Although he received fewer lead roles, he made an impact even in his smaller roles.
