New Delhi(The Uttam Hindu): The Delhi High Court has given conditional permission to Bollywood actor Rajpal Yadav to travel to Melbourne in a cheque bounce case. The actor will participate in the promotional events of his upcoming film 'Mera Kale Rang Da Yaar' from June 27 to July 5, 2025. The court clarified that this permission will be subject to certain conditions, including depositing a fixed deposit receipt (FDR) of Rs 1 lakh in the court registry. Also, one has to provide his mobile number and email ID, which should be active at all times during the foreign trip.

Further, the High Court directed that his passport deposited in the trial court be handed over to him for travelling abroad but it would be mandatory to submit it again in the court after his return to India.

The case is registered under Section 138 of the Negotiable Instruments Act, 1881, in which Rajpal Yadav was sentenced last year. He and his wife had filed a petition in the Delhi High Court against this sentence. In June 2024, the court stayed his sentence, believing that he is not a serious offender and there is scope for reform and resolution in his case. The court had suggested both the parties to explore the possibilities of mutual settlement, which is currently pending in the Mediation Center of Delhi High Court.

Let us tell you that in 2010, Rajpal Yadav, as a director, took a loan of Rs 5 crore for his film 'Aata-Pata Lapata', but he could not return this amount. After which seven different complaints related to cheque bounce were filed against him and others. In this case, Karkardooma Court sent several notices to Rajpal, but he did not appear in the court.

In 2013, he was sent to judicial custody for 10 days. He spent four days in jail from 3 to 6 December 2013, after which a division bench of the Delhi High Court suspended his sentence on his appeal.
