Box Office Triumph: Rishabh Shetty’s ‘Kantara Chapter 1’ Continues Its Magic, Eyes Competition with ‘Chhawa’

Mumbai (The Uttam Hindu): Kannada superstar Rishabh Shetty continues to dominate the box office with his film ‘Kantara Chapter 1’. Released on 2 October during the Dussehra festival, the film had been eagerly awaited by audiences. The prequel to the 2022 hit ‘Kantara’ generated immense curiosity, and the film lived up to every expectation.
The movie features a gripping storyline that transports viewers hundreds of years into a mysterious and spiritual world. Rishabh Shetty not only played the lead role but also wrote and directed the film. According to Sakinilk, the film had a stunning opening of ₹61.85 crore on its first day. Within just two days, it crossed the ₹100 crore mark, surprising everyone. By the end of the first week, the film had reached ₹337.4 crore. The momentum continued into the second weekend, with growing audiences.
On the ninth day (second Friday), the film earned ₹22.25 crore. On the tenth day, the collection surged to ₹39 crore, and on the eleventh day, it increased slightly to ₹39.75 crore. On the 12th day (second Monday), the film earned ₹8.81 crore, slightly lower than previous days, but the total net collection in India reached ₹451.90 crore.
With such massive earnings, ‘Kantara Chapter 1’ has become one of the biggest blockbusters of the year, surpassing films like ‘Saiyara’, ‘Kuli’, and ‘Mahavatar Narasimha’ in collections. Its primary competition now comes from Vicky Kaushal’s ‘Chhawa’, which has earned ₹807.91 crore worldwide so far. With no major releases scheduled until Diwali, the film’s path at the box office remains clear for further earnings.
