Mumbai (The Uttam Hindu): Famed producer and director Vikram Bhatt, already serving time in Udaipur jail in a ₹30 crore fraud case, is facing further trouble. A new fraud case has been filed against Vikram Bhatt and his daughter at the Versova police station, and the Economic Offences Wing is investigating it. This time, the case involves a fraud of ₹13.5 crore.

It is reported that Vikram Bhatt and his daughter promised a businessman good returns in exchange for investing in films. They took ₹13.5 crore from the businessman but never returned the money.

The Economic Offenses Wing has registered a case against Vikram Bhatt and his daughter Krishna Bhatt at the Versova police station. The Economic Offenses Wing has transferred the case to itself for further investigation.

Vikram Bhatt is already lodged in Udaipur jail with his wife in connection with a ₹30 crore fraud case. The producer was first arrested in early December and then sent to jail for seven days in judicial custody. Citing ill health, the couple filed a bail application in the Udaipur court, but the court denied bail upon hearing the petition on December 17. The couple will soon approach the Jodhpur High Court.

Dr. Ajay Murdia, founder of the Indira Group of Companies, filed a fraud case of ₹30 crore against the Bhatt couple, who have Indira IVF centers across the country. Vikram Bhatt and the businessman met in Mumbai, where the businessman wanted to make a biopic on his wife Indira. A contract was signed between the two for four films along with the biopic, and ₹44.29 crore was paid as the amount. Some of the four films were shot, while others were not. When the businessman was given the excuse of asking for his money back, he sought police help.
