Green Light for 'Udaipur Files': Supreme Court Refuses to Stay Film's Release

New Delhi (The Uttam Hindu) : The way has been cleared for the release of the film 'Udaipur Files'. The Supreme Court has refused to ban the film. The Center had constituted a committee regarding the film, which has allowed the release of the film with six cuts. The Supreme Court was informed on July 21 that the Center's committee had passed the order in its revision jurisdiction and Tushar Mehta argued that any further action other than what was suggested by the competent authority would be a violation of Article 19.
The Supreme Court said, This court has not made any comment on the merits. It is up to the Delhi High Court to pass the appropriate order. The Udaipur Files film is being opposed, claiming that it is based on the murder of Kanhaiyalal, a tailor from Rajasthan. The Supreme Court has sent the case to the Delhi High Court and has asked the petitioners to present their arguments in the High Court.
