Kamini Kaushal was born on February 24, 1927, in Lahore. She earned a degree in English literature. She always had a keen interest in art and creativity. She also excelled in horse riding, painting, and Bharatanatyam.

Kamini Kaushal began her film career in black and white films in 1946. Her first film was "Neecha Nagar." This film, based on social inequality and the struggle between rich and poor, won an award at the Cannes Film Festival, becoming the first Indian film to receive international recognition.

Kamini Kaushal not only proved her acting prowess in this film, but also brought Indian cinema international recognition. She subsequently starred in many memorable films throughout her career. Kamini Kaushal has worked with many big stars like Dilip Kumar and Raj Kapoor in her career. In 2019, Kamini Kaushal played Shahid Kapoor and Kiara Advani's grandmother in the film "Kabir Singh." Her role in Aamir Khan and Kareena Kapoor's 2022 film "Laal Singh Chaddha" touched audiences' hearts.
