New Delhi (The Uttam Hindu) — The Employees’ Provident Fund Organisation (EPFO) is preparing to launch a new mobile app for its millions of subscribers. According to sources, the app is likely to be rolled out in April this year. Through this app, EPFO members will be able to transfer funds from their PF accounts directly to their bank accounts using the Unified Payments Interface (UPI). A senior official said the Labour Ministry is working on a project under which a fixed portion of the PF balance will remain secure, while the remaining eligible amount can be instantly withdrawn and transferred to the bank account via UPI.

New App to Offer Multiple Digital Services

Sources revealed that the new mobile app will not only enable PF withdrawals through the UPI gateway but will also allow users to check their passbook balance and access several other services. Currently, members use the EPFO portal and the UMANG app for these facilities. Both platforms will continue to operate, while the new app aims to make service access faster and more convenient.

Secure Transactions Through UPI PIN

The app will display the amount eligible for transfer, and subscribers will be required to enter their UPI PIN to send money to their bank accounts, ensuring a secure and safe transaction process.

Final Testing Underway, April Launch Likely

Officials said EPFO is currently in the final phase of testing the app and resolving technical issues identified during trials. The goal is to ensure a smooth user experience at launch. The Labour Ministry plans to roll out the app nationwide in April, marking a major step forward in strengthening EPFO’s digital services.
