Divorced woman brutally murdered in broad daylight, real brother slit her throat with sharp weapon

Rohtak (The Uttam Hindu): A shocking case of honour killing has come to light from the Mata Darwaja Chowk area of Rohtak, where a 35-year-old beautician, Maya, was brutally murdered by her real brother. The accused allegedly slit her throat with a sharp-edged weapon, killing her on the spot. The incident occurred around 10:30 am on Thursday while Maya was present inside her beauty parlour.

Police have taken the accused into custody. During investigation, it was revealed that Maya was married in Punjab about ten years ago but the couple had no children. She had taken a divorce from her husband around three months ago. After the separation, Maya was living in a rented house in the Khokhrakot area with a young man.

This reportedly angered her brother, Jwala Prasad, who suspected her character and was upset about her living arrangement. During interrogation, the accused told police that people taunted him over his sister’s lifestyle and he could no longer tolerate the humiliation. DSP Headquarters Ravi Khundia said the accused will be produced in court on Friday and police will seek his remand.

On the day of the incident, Maya had reached her beauty parlour as usual. Her co-worker Laxmi was also present at the time. Suddenly, her elder brother Jwala Prasad, a resident of Kabir Colony, arrived at the parlour and attacked Maya with a sharp weapon, striking her on the neck. Due to severe injuries, Maya died on the spot. The co-worker reportedly fainted out of fear after witnessing the attack.
