New Delhi (The Uttam Hindu): According to the National Center for Seismology (NCS), an earthquake of magnitude 3.2 hit Faridabad in Haryana on Tuesday morning. The earthquake occurred at 6 am Indian time, at a depth of 5 kilometers.

The National Center for Seismology (NCS) said on the social media platform X that an earthquake of magnitude 3.2 occurred on July 22, 2025 at 6:00 am. Its epicenter was in Faridabad and it was at a depth of 5 kilometers.

Delhi-NCR has witnessed an increase in earthquake activity in recent weeks. However, there is no immediate news of loss of life or property due to this earthquake.

Last week, a 2.5 magnitude earthquake hit Haryana's Jhajjar with a depth of 5 km. Its epicentre was at 28.64 degrees north latitude and 76.75 degrees east longitude. Earlier, two major earthquakes of 4.4 and 3.7 magnitudes hit Jhajjar on July 10 and 11. The impact of these earthquakes was felt in Delhi, Gurgaon, Rohtak, Noida and other parts of the National Capital Region (NCR).

Although these seismic incidents did not cause any major damage, they have increased fear among the people.

According to seismologists, the surface of our earth is mainly made up of seven large and many small tectonic plates. These plates keep moving continuously and often collide with each other. As a result of this collision, the corners of the plates can bend and they can also break due to excessive pressure. In such a situation, the energy coming out from below finds a way to spread outwards and when this energy comes out from inside the ground, an earthquake occurs.
